Sentosa Heritage Walking Tour
From Pulau Blakang Mati to modern Sentosa, this circular heritage and coastal walk explores one island with two identities: a wartime fortress that became a place of leisure. Beginning and ending at Fort Siloso, the story moves through military defence, war and memory before following the coastline towards Siloso Point, Siloso Beach and Imbiah to reveal Sentosa’s reinvention and its paradise-by-design landscape.

I knew Sentosa for the beaches and attractions, so the military history caught me completely off guard. Starting at Fort Siloso made the contrast with modern Sentosa much stronger, especially once we reached the coast and the story shifted towards leisure.

There are a few slopes and stairs, but the pace was comfortable and there were natural places to pause. Returning to Fort Siloso at the end worked well. You look at the same place differently after seeing the beaches and hearing how the island was reinvented.
